Development Direction of Automation Science and Technology

Automation technology plays an irreplaceable role in the process of human production, life and management. Automation technology is widely used in manufacturing industry, making discrete industrial manufacturing process represented by machinery and equipment manufacturing and process industrial process represented by important raw material industries such as petroleum, metallurgy, materials and energy industries. Automation technology is widely used in the management and production management of manufacturing enterprises, which greatly improves the efficiency of resource planning and manufacturing process management, and becomes the core technology to improve the competitiveness of enterprises. Automation technology plays an irreplaceable role in navigation, guidance and control, robot control and trajectory planning of aviation, aerospace, rail transit, automobiles and ocean vehicles.
 
As an important part of automation technology, control technology plays an important role in almost all major technological revolutions. For example, from steam engine to high-speed railway, auxiliary driving car, high-performance aircraft, rocket to spacecraft, cable telephone to mobile phone, camera to neuroimaging, agility. From manufacturing to robots, from medical equipment to hyperopia, control technology has played an irreplaceable role in improving system performance, such as speed, efficiency, reliability and stability, as well as reducing energy consumption, cost and waste discharge.
 
At present, the developed countries regard intelligent manufacturing as the core high technology to enhance the overall competitiveness of manufacturing industry. The American Leadership Alliance of Intelligent Manufacturing has put forward the technical framework and route of implementing "intelligent process manufacturing" in the 21st century. Germany has put forward the fourth industrial revolution development strategy with intelligent manufacturing as the leading factor for discrete manufacturing industry, namely "industry". 4.0 Plan [6]. Britain announced "British Industrial 2050 Strategy". Japan and South Korea proposed "I-Japan Strategy" and "Manufacturing Innovation 3.0 Strategy" successively. Faced with the new adjustment of global industrial competition pattern brought about by the fourth industrial revolution, China announced the implementation of "Made in China 2025" in order to seize the dominant position of future industrial competition.
 
The key of intelligent manufacturing is to realize the intellectualization of manufacturing process, which requires the deep integration and collaboration of AI technology with the control system, management system and physical resources of manufacturing process. So far, there is no unified and clear definition of AI technology. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is not a single technology, but a set of technologies applied to specific tasks. Although the definition of AI is not clear and changes over time, the research and application of AI has always adhered to a core goal for many years, even if human intelligent behavior is automated or duplicated. The meaning of AI technology is common. Machine intelligence extends and enhances the functions of human perception, cognition, decision-making and execution, enhances the ability of human beings to understand and transform the world, and accomplishes specific tasks that human beings cannot accomplish or accomplish more effectively than human beings.
 
In October 2016, the White House of the United States issued the National Strategic Plan for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development to plan the future development of artificial intelligence in the United States. In July 2017, the State Council of China issued the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, which formally became our national strategy. On March 1, 2018, the American Institute of International Strategies issued the plan. The report "National Strategic Report on Machine Intelligence of the United States" puts forward the extensive influence and development strategy of machine intelligence technology on national defense, economy and society.
 
In Global Trend 2030, the National Intelligence Commission (NIC) put forward four important technologies in the future from the perspective of economic and social development, among which automation and manufacturing technology are the second most important technologies. The Washington Post website (May 24, 2013) gave 12 disruptive technologies that drive the future economy, among which knowledge-based work is the most important. Automation is listed as the second subversive technology. It can be seen that the science and technology of automation has become an irreplaceable technology for social and economic development, national security and making human life more and more beautiful
 
However, Automation Science and technology, especially control science and technology, have not received the understanding and support of the society as communication and computer technology do. For this reason, foreign scholars have organized many symposiums and published research reports, aiming at demonstrating that system and control are the core of information and communication technology in most application fields. The new research direction is expected to be given priority and support by the funding agencies. Although these research reports have played a positive role in promoting the development of control theory, they have not made system and control a priority area for funding agencies. The departments responsible for the development of Automation Science and technology in China have organized many domestic scholars to carry out strategic research and publishing in the development of automation and priority areas of funding. Research reports have been made to clarify the importance of Automation Science and technology and the research direction of priority funding [12-13]. These research reports have played a positive role in promoting the development of automation chemistry. Although compared with foreign countries, China has funds and funding agencies responsible for the development of Automation Science and technology, but Automation Science The role of technology and technology in national social and economic development and national defense security is not as obvious as that of other information science and technology such as communication and computer, and the funding is less than that of other information science and technology such as communication and computer.
 
Automation science and technology has always been focusing on three basic scientific issues: modeling, control and optimization. The core basic theory formed by automation science and technology is "enabling".
